Chase

I embarked upon this journey, my first ever reading of author Annie Dillard, with her desire The Chase. I did not study this story, initi whollyy, in search of separately cloudyer meaning; I merely relaxed, freed myself from thought and exclusivelyowed my mind to be ta batch on, what I felt to be, one incredible ride. Ms. Dillard opens the saga with her bandage childhood memories of playing football with the neighborhood boys; in a vivid recollection of the sense of freedom and air of enormousness acquired thru the act of whole heartedly committing oneself to this physically demanding game, the values and mindset of the author, as a child, are clearly revealed. Quite admirable indeed, I have always thought, are those who possess a specialization for this level and quality of commitment; I was easy, comfortable, in coitus to this concept. On next went Ms. Dillard, innocently enough, to depict in idyllic reminiscence the mischievous passing, by kids left to their own dev ices, of down-time on any normal winter day. Ms Dillards brilliantly chosen words danced, a dazzling, rapid waffle of moving pictures in my mind, which allowed me to feel, as the children in her story, my own cramping lungs from gasping sibylline breaths of freezing air, my own feet wet and numb from the, seemingly, never windup running, in the ever melting snow. I felt my eyes, glazed, ken hazy, with frozen tears and so many other aspects of the bodied trial imposed upon the characters in this story. Most i mportantly though, amidst all of this snow a! nd freezing cold, The Chase caused me to feel heat, furious scramble or flight heat, like sweat steam maintain from hot blood coursing through compact impelled limbs pumping in the frozen air, this paralleled with the heat of my own mind, on fire, with the ardour of it all.
